The Welsh Conservative leader Andrew RT Davies asserted the games should still be free-to-air, he told BBC Wales: "It would be a hammer blow to fans if the Six Nations were no longer available masses to terrestrial TV."

Broadcasting has not been devolved to the Welsh government, but ministers became involved in an similar deabte in 2009.
